Robot to worry older people to close personnel shortages

Robots are used to take care of older people instead of nurses, under new plans to improve social care.

The droid-like machines will act as caregivers for the elderly and in need of protection who regularly need check-ins from a care team, including those who receive NHS care.

The design of the robots still has to be completed, but they will be knee -high and equipped with artificial intelligence so that they can learn more about their patients over time.

The machines developed by Cera from Healthcare Technology Provider remain at home in a patient who would otherwise receive routine “home visits” from a nurse.

A team of nursing staff is still responsible for the patient, carries out remote check-ins and uses the data returned via the robot to monitor the patient.

However, the innovation will increase the capacity of a understaffed workforce and reduce the costs. This enables the needy or more complex health problems that can be prioritized for a human visit.

The robots that have already been triggered by Cera give their patients requests when they can eat, drink and take their medication, and collect data on their greater health and well -being. You could also reduce loneliness and isolation and send warnings to the staff if a patient no longer reacts.

Cera also said that his robots could act “as a lifeline for patients with dementia or short -term thoughts”, since they are also programmed in such a way that they remind patients of family events and planned visits to relatives or neighbors and friends.

A nursing team will monitor and assess the health of a patient whether they need further interventions, e.g. B. if you don’t deal with care.

Cera, which employs around 10,000 human supervisors and nurses, delivers around two million home visits per month – nine out of ten of which are on behalf of the NHS or the government.

The radical and futuristic change in the provision of social care will increase the number of visits by 20 percent and at the same time save the costs of up to 80 percent in relation to the backdrop for huge personnel and financing pressure, said the provider.

There are no public details about the costs of the robots, how many are used or what the final design will look like.

Social care will have a lack of 500,000 employees over the next 15 years.

According to Charity Age UK, around 2 million British live without the help you need for care.

In the meantime, the NHS hospital beds are employed with around 13,000 to 14,000 patients per day who help to be released, but are nowhere to go due to problems in social care.

The AI robots have access to 200 billion patient health data points in every possible metric in order to train the robots in order to be more effective.

CIA’s AI tools include the ability to predict patients with a fall, with an accuracy of up to 97 percent as well as the persecution of vital functions and the recognition of the existence of respiratory diseases, which may require additional support such as flu.

At the beginning of this year, Sir Keir Strandmer promised Great Britain to make a “world leader” in AI technology and to make public services more efficient as part of a KI -OPPORTUNITY -ACTION SPLAN.

Dr. Ben Maruthappu, Managing Director of Cera, said the country “urgently needs new solutions to deliver high -quality supply of the size”.

“Human supervisors will always play an important role in society, but robots can improve and supplement their effects, tackle the loneliness of the patients and increase well-being while supporting the sector with its personnel and financing pressure,” he said.

“We believe that robots play an important role in the future of care and, given our extent in our sector management technology and our data record Cera, are well positioned to guide this movement.”

Robots are tested to support workers in other industries all over the world, including the electric car manufacturer of Elon Musk, Tesla.

His Optimus robot was developed to do the factory tasks, but also to help shopping, walking, cooking and homework.

In the meantime, the government also checks how the fighting social supply system can be revised.

An independent commission for the social care of adults would be directed by Baroness Louise Casey, but a final report and the proposed plan to determine the sector will not be completed in 2028.
